Pure fabric
Metallic thread is heavy. Blended cloth puckers under it, and cheap bases hide behind the gold. So we start with pure silk, pure tussar, pure chinon and pure santoon — cloth that holds the work, drapes with intention and ages well.
The craft
Two hands, one heritage
Tilla began as hand work: metallic thread laid on the cloth and couched down with fine silk stitches, one pass at a time. We work in both techniques, and neither is a lesser version of the other. Switch between them, and try the thread on the colours of this edit.
Hand Tilla. Worked entirely by a karigar’s hand, one motif at a time. Naturally irregular in the most beautiful way: no two paisleys are quite the same.
Every product page states which technique was used. We don’t leave you guessing.
